Panelists: • William V. Slade, Emerging Issues Specialist, EH&S (Environmental, Health & Safety) Executive & Policy Manager, Consolidated Edison of New York

Bio: William (Bill) V. Slade is the Emerging Issues Specialist in Con Edison’s Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) Department. Bill’s primary function is to “look over the horizon” to understand a wide range of issues that could impact the company’s employees and its gas, steam, and electric operations. Prior to taking on this role with Con Edison, Bill served as Vice President for EH&S for the New York Power Authority.

Bill has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the Stony Brook University.

Venetia Lannon, Regional Director at the New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation for Region 2, which comprises the five boroughs of New York City.

Bio: Ms. Lannon leads Region 2’s efforts to integrate the best scientific solutions and global responses to new climate realities with DEC’s regulatory responsibilities and mission. She has a particular interest in the effectiveness of nature-based structures as resiliency solutions for the city’s coastline. Prior to joining DEC, Ms. Lannon was an Senior Vice President at the NYC Economic Development Corp., and a Deputy Director at the NYC Dept. of Sanitation’s Recycling Bureau. 

Ms. Lannon holds a B.A. from Vassar College and an M.P.A. (Master's in Public Administration) from Columbia University.
